“Olympiades Square” is a term that I have made up myself. It concerns a concrete roof plaza which is located in the middle of a huge residential block in 13ème arrondissement in Paris. Surrounded by high skyscrapers, this structure was built in the 70’s to introduce an alternative way of life. Nowadays, it seems to be another urban place left abandoned.

However, it is a hub for young people. Children, adolescents and university students prefer it for their leisure time. Additionally, a range of activities takes place too. Having witnessing the spirituality of the place for 6 months, I realised the dynamic and the uniqueness of this kind of out of the ordinary square.

Young people come from everywhere in Paris for different reasons but having communicating with them I have realised their strong desire to express themselves without limitations in this particular area of 400m2.
